The Plaskett fire in Monterey county has reached over 15,000 acres, and is at 1% containment.
Evacuation warnings continue to pile up, with three extending into the San Luis Obispo county line. Warnings are for zones SLC-001, 002, and 003. Cal Fire’s website says “those who require additional time to evacuate, and those with pets and livestock should leave now.”
Cal Fire’s updates says the largest growth to the Plaskett fire is on the eastern side toward Fort Hunter Liggett, and to the south near Los Berros road. A 40-mile stretch of highway 1 is currently closed, south of Little Sur River to just north of the San Luis Obispo county line. There is no estimated reopening time for the highway.
Cal fire says that heavy vegetation and limited fire history in the area continue to drive active fire behavior.
