The Paso Robles police department responded to a report of multiple shots fired near Larry Moore park Friday evening.
Officers responded to the area, and located several people determined to be victims, from 17 to 23 years old. The department says the victims were socializing near their vehicles, when an unprovoked male approached them and fired several shots from a handgun in their direction. None of the victims were injured, and the male fled the scene.
The suspect was later located and identified as 49-year-old Michael Sobodtka of Paso Robles. When officers attempted to contact him, he was involved in “an unrelated dispute,” according to police. He attempted to fight with the officers before he was safely taken into custody, and police seized the involved firearm from the previous incident.
He was booked at the San Luis Obispo county jail for assault with a deadly weapon, and is currently being held without bail.
