San Luis Obispo police have arrested a suspect for Tuesday’s fire along the Bob Jones bike trail.
At about 4:30 pm on Tuesday, the San Luis Obispo fire department was dispatched to a reported brush fire along the trail, which spread onto city property with several stored vehicles. The fire department suspected the blaze was intentionally started. With assistance from law enforcement agencies, a person of interest was initially located and detained, but later released.
SLO police department detectives assumed the investigation, and identified 38-year-old John Rorabough as a suspect, who is unhoused and “known to frequent the area.” Officers located and arrested him yesterday without incident for felony arson of a structure or forest land, and arson of property.
