Two Cal Poly pitchers drafted by major league teams this week in the annual amateur draft.
Reliever Brian Woo drafted in the sixth round by the Seattle Mariners on Monday.
Yesterday southpaw Andrew Alvarez was drafted on the final day of the draft by the Washington Nationals. Alvarez won the team’s Mike Krukow Outstanding Pitcher award.
A Cal Poly recruit was drafted, and he will sign. Cameron Butler of Big Valley Christian in Modesto was selected in the 15th round after hitting 741 this season. He’s going to sign with the White Sox.
Next year, Cal Poly’s Brooks Lee is eligible to be drafted. He’s expected to go in the first round.
This is Wednesday, which means the Atascadero All-Comers Track Meet will take place at the high school track. Field events begin at 5:30. Running events at 6:00 this evening. Entry fee is $5 per event.
