Forecasters say we’ll see a mix of sunshine and clouds this morning, then mostly cloudy skies this afternoon. No rain in the forecast until Thursday.
But there’s an astronomical phenomenon this week. A planetary alignment began to form last night, but will be at its best Wednesday morning. Saturn, Mars and Venus have actually clustered together since late March, but Jupiter joins them this week.
The solar system is effectively flat, with each planet orbiting the sun within the same plane, so any perceptible alignment is just a trick of perspective, depending on space and time. However, planetary alignments are amazing, and they don’t happen often – at least not with as many planets as this.
