The county elections office is encouraging voters to plan ahead for the general election by voting early, using an official ballot drop box, or voting early in person.
The elections office says uncertainty regarding mail ballots and the role of the USPS in delivering ballots has “led to an uptick in voters contacting the elections office.” Elaina Cano says that at this point, while there are no changes to the timelines or process, voters should plan ahead.
Those who wish to vote by mail should do as early as possible, and that they use official ballot drop boxes open around the county on October 6th. Voters can cast their ballots in person early beginning October 5th at the elections office in San Luis Obispo, and the Atascadero elections office beginning October 26th.
