The county board of supervisors will be meeting on the 28th.
On the board’s agenda is a consideration to extend the declaration of its shelter crisis. The shelter crisis law is a California law that allows public agencies to relax certain state and local building standards for the construction and operation of emergency homeless shelters at public facilities.
The county initially declared the shelter crisis in October 2018, and has been redeclared and extended several times since. The expiration date for the current declaration is December 31, 2023.
Staff is recommending the board adopt an ordinance to re-declare the shelter crisis for San Luis Obispo county. The board must also hold a public hearing for tentative and final action, which is currently recommended to be December 12, 2023.
You can attend Tuesday’s meeting in person, or watch online.
