The San Francisco zoo says Zura the gorilla died Friday after a long-term digestive illness. Zura was a 39-year-old western lowland gorilla. She arrived in San Francisco in 1982 from the Columbus zoo, where her grandmother was Colo. Colo was the first gorilla in the world to be born in captivity. She died in 2017.…

Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham attacked by some in the media for attending a legislative conference in Hawaii. The bi-partisan policy conference is held each year. San Luis Obispo county supervisors approved a new limit on campaign spending. Confronted by a new state law that would limit individual campaign donations unless counties developed their own ordinance, the supervisors approved a limit of $25,000 dollars. A former county employee who worked for supervisor Adam Hill is awarded a settlement of more than $40,000 from the county. The employee was not identified, but she was hired to be supervisor Hill’s assistant after she began a personal relationship with him. Governor Gavin Newsom selects a replacement for San Luis Obispo county supervisor Adam Hill, who died in early August.
