The Paso Robles city council voted unanimously in its most recent meeting to adopt the updated airport division fee schedule.
Mark Scandalis, airport manager, presented the council with the updated fees that were unanimously recommended to council by the airport commission back in June. The goal of the fees were to account for common operations at the Paso Robles airport that were not currently listed, provide industry common exemptions for applicable fees, and provide fees that recover costs from transient aircraft. William Britton of the airport commission expressed his support for the updated fees, and took questions from council members. Councilman Fred Strong asked if there was an expenditure plan for the anticipated revenue from the updated fees. Mark Scandalis said that an Ad Hoc committee is currently looking over a study of the airport for funding mechanism, but likely usage would be staffing, general maintenance, cover grant matches from the FAA. Councilman Steve Gregory made a motion to adopt the airport division fee update, and was seconded by councilman Strong.
The motion passed unanimously, and the updated fees will be implemented on September 1st.
