San Luis Obispo fire officials are investigating what they are calling a “suspicious” fire near the Bob Jones bike trail, north of Los Osos Valley road.
Fire crews were dispatched yesterday at about 4:30 pm, where they found a 50-by-50 foot area of vegetation burning near a decommissioned city utilities facility, with five vehicles fully involved in the fire. The fire on the vehicles and vegetation were extinguished before the blaze could spread into the surrounding area or impact nearby Prefumo creek.
The incident was cleared at approximately 8 pm as crews stayed to mop up and extinguish any hot spots. No injuries were reported, but the fire department believes the circumstances are “suspicious.” Arson investigators are continuing to determine the cause.
