Late last week at the county elections office, county clerk recorder Tommy Gong said they had about 33,000 ballots left to count.
The latest tally shows assemblyman Jordan Cunningham widening his lead over progressive Dawn Addis of Morro Bay.
Cunningham leads by about 7 thousand votes with 53% of the vote.
The district includes San Luis Obispo county and northern Santa Barbara county, where Cunningham made a strong showing against the progressive city council woman from Morro Bay.
Meawhile, the vote counting continues in San Luis Obispo county.
