The driver was a mother and her passengers, three children.
The mother drove around barricades and into the flood waters in her compact car.
The swift water swept the vehicle off the roadway, and nearly overturned it.
Locals removed two of the kids before first responders arrived and removed the mother and towed the car off the edge of the roadway before it was swept into the river.
