The Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo and Twin Cities community hospital in Templeton are participating in a “Socktober” fundraising event all month long.
The event looks to donate collected socks to local homeless shelters. Socks are the most requested, yet least donated item. Tenet Health San Luis Obispo says the participating locations collected more than 170 thousand pairs of socks last year, and they’re hoping to beat that number.
Socks can be dropped off in lobbies of both hospitals through the end of the month.
