Tourism during the pandemic. A report compiled by the Tribune indicates the the Transit Occupancy Tax in Paso Robles dropped 24% in 2020 to just under $5 million dollars. Other areas were harder hit.
San Luis Obispo’s TOT revenue dropped 39%. From $8 million dollars to just under $5 million in 2020.
Morro Bay saw a decline of 20%.
Cambria saw a drop of 22%.
After the pandemic hit the north county, the first action taken by Paso Robles city council was to suspend penalties and interest for short term rentals and hotels. Although, that money was collected when the visitors stayed at the properties.
