THE SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY THAT DISTRICT ATTORNEY DAN DOW WILL BE DEPLOYED TO THE MIDDLE EAST. THE DA’S OFFICE SAYS DAN DOW IS ON TEMPORARY ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY LEAVE, JOINING THE CALIFORNIA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD’S 40TH INFANTRY DIVISION OVERSEAS. DAN DOW IS A LIEUTENANT COLONEL RESERVE OFFICE AND MILITARY JUDGE IN THE CALIFORNIA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD. THE US NATIONAL GUARD SAYS THE 40TH INFANTRY DIVISION WILL SUPPORT OPERATION SPARTAN SHIELD AND OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE MISSIONS TO BUILD PARTNER CAPACITY AND INCREASE REGIONAL SECURITY IN THE MIDDLE EAST. THE LENGTH OF DAN DOW’S DEPLOYMENT IS UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME, BUT HE REMAINS SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY’S DA WHILE ON ACTIVE-DUTY MILITARY LEAVE. ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY ERIC DOBROTH WILL SERVE AS ACTING DA UNTIL DOW RETURNS.
