On Friday morning, 19 residents of San Luis Obispo county were sworn in to become members of the grand jury.
The county’s grand jury is a local watchdog group, whose responsibility is to ensure that governing bodies are operating both responsibly and effectively.
The county’s grand jury selects these 19 members at random after an application is submitted, and two interviews are conducted. The first interview is with the grand jury association, and the second is with one of the court judges.
This year has three members returning from the previous, and is composed of 9 women and 10 men.
The grand jury’s turn begins today, and will go through June 30th next year.
