Early warning sirens along the coast of San Luis Obispo will be undergoing their low-volume quarterly growl tests starting today, and going through April 2nd.
These sirens encompass the Diablo Canyon emergency planning zone, from Cayucos in the north to the Nipomo Mesa in the south. Each siren in the area will be tested for a few seconds, and no action is required from the public.
The county office of emergency services says these sirens are maintained as a requirement to keep the Diablo Canyon power plant in operation.
