A wildfire reported yesterday afternoon on the 1800 block of Burnt Rock way. It burned several acres. The cause is under investigation.
Another fire reported on See Canyon near Avila Beach. A structure fire Wednesday afternoon. The fire burned about a quarter of an acre around the home. It also burned about 75% of the structure.
San Luis Obispo police arrest a 26-year-old man who has been evading arrest for several months. Wednesday, Jordan Smith was spotted near the train station, but he fled toward the high school. That caused a lock down at the high school. Smith was arrested after climbing onto a roof near the high school. He was booked into the county jail on suspicion of parole violation, and outstanding warrants for domestic violence, robbery, drug sales and resisting arrest.
Another badger sighting Wednesday in Pismo Beach. This time, someone calls police to report a badger huddling in the backyard of a home. You may remember several years ago, a badger in that area went into a gift shop at the Shell station and would not leave. They called it a stubborn badger. If you see a badger you are encouraged to report it online at wildlife.ca.gov.
Spare Time Books in Paso Robles is getting a makeover. Two young women bought the book store. Carla Cary and Clio Bruns met 13 years ago at Atascadero high school, now they’re reinventing Spare Time Books. Spare Time Books is open 11-7 Tuesday through Saturday on 12th street between Pine and Railroad. The book store has been at the location for decades, but it’s getting a makeover.
