The Paso Robles police department released a statement yesterday about its participation in a multi-agency operation conducted last week.
The operation involved 17 different agencies, including the Paso Robles police department and San Luis Obispo county sheriff’s office. “Operation Boogeyman” involved detectives posing as preteen and early teenage boys and girls, where online predators messaged them and expressed sexual desires alongside a time and place to meet with the detective posing as a children.
The release says that the operation arrested a total of 14 men, who were booked into the Fresno county jail. Law enforcement also reminds the public to be vigilant when it comes to visiting websites and social media outlets, and to monitor their children’s internet usage. Parents should keep the dialogue open with their children in order to build trust.
