The Paso Robles police department announced it will be increasing the number of officers on patrol looking for drivers suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The department says this is due to the increased traveling that takes place around the holiday season, with more than 4500 people killed between the 2017 to 2022 December months.
The department reminds drivers that DUI extends to prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, and marijuana.
Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California office of traffic safety.
