Despite the hot weather this week, county swimming pools in several north county towns will not reopen as they usually do.
We’re talking about pools in Templeton, San Miguel, Shandon, and Cayucos.
The county slow in getting the pools open. Nick Franco is county parks director. He says two things have to happen before the pools reopen for the summer. The county board of supervisors has to restore funding and they have to hire some lifeguards.
That all takes time. Franco tells KSBY his department is looking for lifeguards now.
Temperatures are reaching 107 in some of those communities this week, but the swimming pools may remain closed until late July.
