The San Luis Obispo county groundwater sustainability department says nearly 80% of wells measured in the Paso Robles groundwater basin have higher levels today than one year ago.
Nearly 20 inches of rain fell in the north county from December through March. That’s about twice the average.
Some wells had water levels rise by more than 50 feet after the winter storms.
