During last night’s Atascadero city council meeting, the council voted unanimously to authorize various road repairs from the 2023 winter storms before the next rainy season.
The roads previously failed to receive bids earlier this year due to the extremely high volume of work and limited availability of contractor staff this year. The locations were then split back into individuals cost proposals, and are grouped based on geographic location. The total cost for repairing sections of Santa Ana road, Hemos avenue, Laurel road, Chico road, and Orillas way will be 250 thousand dollars. Del Rio road repairs are a unique challenge for the city, staff reports.
Due to requiring an encroachment permit from the city, which is estimated to take two months to issue, city staff will first conduct repairs on Del Rio’s most damaged under its blanket encroachment permit, but will not be able to address all pavement deficiencies currently.
The repairs for Del Rio currently estimates at around 75 thousand dollars, and is anticipated to finish prior to the end of November 2023.
