Calmer weather today may help firefighters battle in the Caldor fire which is threatening the Tahoe basin.
Yesterday, the wind was scary. Battalion commander Jim Higge says the wind created spotting. Spotting is where embers from the fire float through the air and start fires a mile or two downwind.
Calmer weather forecast today. That Caldor fire has burned 320 square miles. It’s destroyed 500 homes. It’s now threatening more than 20 thousand structures.
