A mudslide led to the closure of highway 41 in both directions yesterday evening.
The highway was closed between the 46 at the Cholame Y, and highway 33, starting shortly before 9 pm. CHP says one major collision occurred due to this incident. Travelers are advised to take highway 33 to detour on to highway 46. CHP says the road may be closed for several days.
Several boulders falling also led to the closure of two northbound lanes of highway 101, just south of Santa Margarita. The mud slide rolled in near the top of the Cuesta grade at about 9:30 pm, disabling two vehicles.
