
The county elections office has laid out a timeline for key events and dates in the 2026 election. The statewide direct primary election will be held June 2, 2026, and the general election will be held November 3rd.
Any candidates interested in running for statewide office, or one of the nonpartisan local offices on the June ballot must follow guidelines on the clerk-recorder’s website. The official candidate filing period will be held February 9th through March 6th.
For voters, all registered voters will be mailed a ballot for the June primary by May 4th. Before ballots are mailed out, the clerk-recorder’s office encourages voters to confirm their information. Voters can check their registration status at: myvoterstatus.sos.ca.gov.
