The county of San Luis Obispo has been designated by the state of California as “prohousing.”
The county says this designation recognizes efforts to enact bold, locally driven policies that accelerate housing production, lower costs, and expand opportunities. This unlocks benefits for jurisdictions, according to the county, including priority and bonus points in state housing, infrastructure, and planning programs.
This designation came after the county board of supervisors adopted land use ordinance changes to support greater housing production, aimed at encouraging more affordable and higher density housing to help meet with housing demands.
