Governor Gavin Newsom is proposing the state of California loan PG and E $1.4 billion dollars to extend the life of the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant. The draft legislation may be attached to the state’s budget as a trailer bill.
If passed it would help extend the power plants operation another 5-10 years behind 2024 and 2025. That’s when the plant is scheduled to shut down.
