The Atascadero police department will be holding a DUI checkpoint this Friday, December 19th.
The checkpoint will start at 6 pm, and will go through 2 am on Saturday, December 20th. The DUI checkpoint will be held at an undisclosed location, chosen based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes.
DUI checkpoints are conducted to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road. The Atascadero police department also reminds the public that driving under the influence is not just from alcohol – driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal, and some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving.
