Two Georgia Brown Dual Immersion Robotics Reams will be attending the Southern California State Championships at UC Irvine in March.
Georgia Brown has a 4th grade elementary team, and a junior high team for the competition, and faced 46 robotics teams from across the central coast. Each team spent months designing, programming, and building their robots to compete in skills that tested both the remote controlled and autonomous performance of the robots.
Georgia Brown’s 4th grade team won overall Teamwork Champion, Robot Skills Champion, and design award with their robot dubbed “Lobster.” And the junior high team earned the innovation award while achieving the highest autonomous score of all 46 teams in attendance.
This is Georgia Brown’s inaugural year for its robotics program, and attendance for this competition. They are working to raise $2,000 now to cover their travel expenses and robot upgrades for the next competition.
