Caltrans announces highway 46 has received an allocation of 136 million to continue the work to widen the highway to four lanes.
The funding comes from Senate Bill I and the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
The money will go to convert highway 46 east between the Shandon rest area and the Jack Ranch Cafe into a four-lane expressway.
The section has long been known as blood alley because of the frequent fatal accidents there.
