The county homeless services division announced that a new supportive housing community for homeless individuals may be coming to the city of San Luis Obispo.
The proposed Welcome Home Village was initially planned to be near south Higuera street, but has now been moved to the county health agency campus. The 80-bed community housing will pair residents with mandatory case management and a program that is tailored to support their needs.
The Welcome Home Village is funded by a 13.4 million dollar grant from the state of California’s encampment resolution fund. The project will be reviewed by the board of supervisors on May 21, 2024.
If approved, development and construction of the village will begin this fall, and the first program participants are anticipated in 2025.
