The flip did not happen, but Ozzie met with dozens of fans and admirers, and then he did throw out the first pitch to Robin Baggett. Afterwards, Ozzie Smith told KPRL he enjoyed his return to Cal Poly.
Ozzie Smith, spent the weekend in San Luis Obispo county. He also had dinner at Firestone’s sports bar in San Luis Obispo.
After he quit baseball, he took up the game of golf. He has a four handicap. He played a round of golf with some locals and played well. He lives today in St. Louis where he won 13 gold gloves as shortstop for the Cardinals.
Incidentally, the Mustangs took two out of three against UC Irvine over the weekend.
In the NCAA basketball play-offs, we’re down to the final four.
San Diego State and Florida-Atlantic. UConn and Miami.
Those teams will play each other Saturday.
In the women’s tournament, LSU and Iowa reach the final four.
Today, Maryland plays South Carolina and Ohio State plays Virginia Tech. The winners of those two games will complete the final four for the women’s tournament.
