The Cal Poly baseball team beats C-Sun yesterday in Northridge 10-8. Redshirt freshman Brooks Lee hits a home run and two singles, driving in five runs to lead the offense. The Mustangs host UC San Diego this weekend.
No fans, but the Mustangs are attracting about a dozen professional scouts to each of their games to see Brooks Lee, Matt Lopez, and Myles Emmerson, who is a nominee for the Buster Posey award, which honors the top catcher in the NCAA.
In the NCAA basketball tournament. The weekend saw UC Santa Barbara eliminated by the Creighton Blue Jays. So, the Big West entry is eliminated in their first game, but USC, UCLA, Oregon and Oregon State all advance to the Sweet Sixteen.
Yesterday, Gonzaga beat Oklahoma. The Zags remain undefeated this season at 28-0. They’re the top ranked team in college basketball. They’ll next face the Creighton Blue Jays.
