Members of the US congress held a field hearing at the Morro Bay Community Center Thursday to discuss the work done to develop floating offshore wind turbines in the pacific ocean. Off the coast of Morro Bay.
Five congressmen took part in the hearing including congressmen Jimmy Panetta and Salud Carbajal.
Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham told the hearing, that he has concerns about the state’s goal of having the projects in the water by 2030.
Doug Boren of the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management says the federal government plans to conduct a lease sale auction this fall for the wind turbine operation.
