Teachers, and members of the Paso Robles public educators union packed Tuesday’s Paso Robles school board meeting.
PRPE was there to protest a 1% salary increase and 1% off-schedule one-time payment that was previously offered by district administration during negotiations. Many speakers cited working multiple jobs just to make ends meet, and how a 1% increase would not cover the rising cost of living.
According to the PRPE’s website, they initially proposed a 5% raise and a district contribution to the health benefit cap.
The school board discussed labor negotiations further during closed session, and no action was reported when they reconvened to open session.
