Solvang city council votes 3-2 against a proposal to celebrate pride month in June with rainbow banners and rainbow cross walks.
The council voted against pride banners on light poles in the city. They also denied permission for six temporary rainbow-themed crosswalks in the city.
The city’s policy says banners should support events for tourism and the city’s Danish theme. It also prohibits banners for political or religious purposes for private financial gain that doesn’t promote tourism.
The proposed banners featured the words pride month, and all welcome, as well as rainbows.
