The county board of supervisors first meeting of 2026 will be held this Tuesday at 9 am.
On this meeting’s agenda is a capital project item that would approve the signalization of two streets in San Miguel. The streets are 11th and Mission street, and 14th and Mission street. A study conducted in 2020 predicted these intersections were “projected to operate poorly” by the year 2035, triggering the need for traffic signal installations.
However, both intersections cross the Union Pacific rail line, which will require coordination with railroad operations. The agenda says this would become a multi-year capital projects with a budget adjustment of $500,000.
The estimated construction cost will be 2.6 million dollars according to the agenda, but will be reassessed during project development and will return to the board later to request authorization.
You can attend Tuesday’s meeting in person, or watch online.
