Another close finish for Xander Schauffele and Austin Kaiser at yesterday’s US Open, but it did not turn out to be Xander’s first major victory.
Xander was in third place only a few strokes out when gusty winds created issues for the golfers at Winged Foot in Westchester county, New York.
Only Bryson Dechambeau shot under par in the final round, and he won it.
Xander finished fifth, which is his fourth top-five finish in nine majors he’s played.
His caddie is former Greyhound Austin Kaiser. The two met while playing on the golf team at San Diego state. Austin previously played for Atascadero high school and Hancock college before joining the Aztecs.
For fifth place in the US Open, Xander won about 485 thousand dollars.
The next major for Xander and Austin is the Masters which was postponed in April. It will be played at Augusta in mid November.
