At Yellowstone National Park, rangers are capturing bison that are migrating outside the park. Those will be held for possible slaughter as part of a population reduction program. The annual operation began Sunday. So far, they’ve captured about 6 bison.
Park officials want to reduce the bison herds by about 900 animals. That’s to shield Montana’s cattle industry from a disease which many bison carry. Yellowstone park has about 5,000 bison.
