Work begins this week to remove old oil piers along the Santa Barbara county coastline.
Back in April, the State Lands Commission approved plans to remove the old oil piers on Haskell’s beach.
There are two piers there which have not been used for decades.
They are the end of the Ellwood oil field which began producing in the late 1920’s and continued into the 1990’s.
The removal project will take about six months.
