Remember that tragic dog attack in Grover Beach five years ago? A retired police dog got out of its back yard and killed a man who was trying to defend an elderly neighbor woman. The dog was owned by a south county police officer.
The survivor and family members of the deceased are in court this week seeking damages against the Exeter police department. That’s because they initially trained the animal.
The retired Belgian Malinois was owned by former Grover Beach police officer Alex Geiger.
Attorneys alleged in court that the Exeter police department did not adequately train Geiger how to safely keep a retired police dog.
The attorneys going after the deep pockets of the city of Exeter, in that lawsuit.
