31-year-old Zachary Bernal made his first court appearance on Tuesday this week.
He is being charged with fatal hit-and-run while driving under the influence, which resulted in the death of 11-year-old Jose Gutierrez.
The hearing lasted no longer than five minutes, and Bernal pled “not guilty.”
He is due back in court March 24th.
