Cal Fire Prevention Grant 2024
The Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services announced they have received a grant of around $443 thousand from Cal Fire for wildfire prevention.
The fire department has been reducing the risk of wildfires in the Salinas riverbed since 2019, after the city declared a local emergency, by proactively managing vegetation in the riverbed.
The department says that the city saw a more than 50% reduction in the number of fires from the previous year as a result of the Salinas river vegetation management program.
The fire department says that the grant funds will be used to purchase much needed specialized equipment to continue the vegetation management within the Salinas river, and expand fuel reduction work throughout the community.
