Over the Christmas holiday, CHP entered its maximum enforcement period between December 22nd and December 26th.
CHP reports they made more than 900 arrests for driving under the influence, which is an average of one arrest every five minutes. Tragically, 20 people were killed in crashes within CHP’s jurisdiction.
Now, with the new year approaching soon, CHP announced they will enter the statewide new years maximum enforcement period. The period will begin Friday, December 29th, and go through just before midnight on Monday, January 1st.
CHP encourages drivers to always designate a sober driver or use ride-sharing services and avoid distractions while driving.
