A vegetation fire broke out in Atascadero yesterday afternoon, just after 2 pm.
The fire was located west of highway 101, along the 8600 block of San Carlos road. The Carlos fire, as it was named, burned through about 40 acres before it was stopped.
Though several structures were in the immediate vicinity, they were not threatened, according to Cal Fire.
The cause is under investigation.
