A new park in Santa Maria will honor the valley’s Japanese farming tradition.
The Santa Maria Japanese community center provided $300,000 for the new park that will include a community center. The plan is to restore an 1880’s era ranch house that was relocated to the park several years ago.
The Japanese community is paying for that new park to celebrate the valley’s Isse immigrants and Japanese farming history.
