Tuesday afternoon, San Luis Obispo county supervisors threw out the Patten map for district boundaries, and adopted Map ‘A’ to replace it. There was a lot of testimony Tuesday afternoon, most of it to replace the Patten map with Map ‘A’, which is similar to the old map.
There was a lot of discussion about the Cal Poly population being moved back into district five. That’s Debbie Arnold’s district in the south end of the north county.
People from the coast talked about communities split up in the second district.
Supervisor Debbie Arnold spoke against the settlement to throw out the Patton map in favor of map “A”,
Ultimately, the supervisors voted 3-2, to approve the settlement, that throws out the Patten map and replaces it with Map A, which is much closer to what the district boundaries were before the Patten map was adopted. Debbie Arnold and John Peschong cast the dissenting votes.
So, now we go back to a map which puts Cal Poly in district five, and splits San Luis Obispo among three different districts.
