The county health department confirms another 74 new cases of Covid-19. That brings the total since March to one thousand four hundred 76 cases. 15 residential care facilities have reported outbreaks of the corona virus. The Atascadero post office briefly closed when postal employees found a suspicious package. The post office reopened when it was determined the package was not a threat.
The Mineral fire is finally fully contained. The fire started back on July 13th in the hills west of Coalinga. Over the past ten days it’s burned nearly 30,000 acres in western Fresno county. The fire started on Mineral road near an old hot springs in the mountains just west of Coalinga.

Acts of vandalism at Coast Union high school in Cambria have inspired increased sheriff patrols. School officials say someone gained access to the playing field in their cars and drove around the fields damaging the grass. The Mineral fire burning just west of Coalinga is now 80% contained. The fire has burned 30,000 acres in western Fresno county over the past nine days.
A vehicle fire reported yesterday afternoon near Santa Margarita. It occurred just before 3 at the park and ride area on highway 58 just off highway 101. Firefighters responded and extinguished the fire before it spread to nearby trees. The pickup was a total loss. No one was hurt.
The San Luis Obispo county health department reports 24 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in our county. Nine were in Paso Robles. Five in Templeton.
