The Mineral fire is finally fully contained. The fire started back on July 13th in the hills west of Coalinga. Over the past ten days it’s burned nearly 30,000 acres in western Fresno county. The fire started on Mineral road near an old hot springs in the mountains just west of Coalinga.

Acts of vandalism at Coast Union high school in Cambria have inspired increased sheriff patrols. School officials say someone gained access to the playing field in their cars and drove around the fields damaging the grass. A vehicle fire reported yesterday afternoon near Santa Margarita. It occurred just before 3 at the park and ride area on highway 58 just off highway 101. Firefighters responded and extinguished the fire before it spread to nearby trees. The pickup was a total loss. No one was hurt.
